Born in Louisiana in about 1851, it is highly likely that Montgomery Hardaway was first married to Emily (nee Porter) on 11 JAN 1871 in Gonzales County, TX. Montgomery Hardaway married secondly to Catherine (nee Daniels) [c. 1845—????] on 10 JAN 1873 in Gonzales County, TX. To Montgomery’s union with Catherine were born: Philip Adam Hardway, William Hardaway, Horace Hardaway, Henry Hardway, Bessie Hodges, Green Hardway, and Fannie Hardway. Montgomery’s whereabouts after being discharged from the Texas State Prison system in 1901 are not immediately known since he did not return to life with Catherine; she reported herself a “widow” in 1900 despite Montgomery still being alive. Neither Catherine or Montgomery appear to have an available death record.
w. h. (william hillory) hardaway
Born in Louisiana, W. H. (William Hillory) Hardaway [1861—1926] was married to Callie Edwards [1864—1919] on 06 OCT 1872 in Gonzales County, TX. To their union were born: John Hardaway, Ida Hardaway, Dora H. Miller, Hilliard Hardaway, and Estella Street. In addition to his children born to Callie Hardaway [1864—1919], Hillory Hardaway partnered with Nancy Oneal [1855—1930] and fathered: Melvin Hardaway, Minnie Hardaway, and George Hardaway. Hillory Hardaway is described as buried in Gonzales, TX, however there is no existing headstone to indicate his burial or the burial location of his wife, Callie, who died in 1919 of endometrial cancer. Hillory Hardaway died at the age of 65 of nephritis.

Despite this, Turner Hardaway filed and celebrated marriage with Mariah Hardaway (nee Smith) [c. 1857—1926] on 29 JUN 1873 in Gonzales County, TX. To their union were born A. T. Hardaway, Nellie Wilson, Millard Hardaway, Adeline H. Collins, J. B. Hardaway, and Philip Hardaway. Turner Hardaway died on 02 JAN 1929 in Ottine, TX, of mitral regurgitation, and was interred at the Atlanta Cemetery outside Luling, TX. Mariah and Turner Hardaway have no headstone.
Richmond Hardaway

C.” Hardaway, Retta Hawkins, Ramsey Hardaway, Callie Adar, Clem Hardaway, Mitchell George Hardaway, Marshall Hardaway, and Birdie Hardaway. Rich Hardaway died a widow on 21 FEB 1940 of senility with complications of influenza in San Antonio, Bexar County, TX. Nancy Hardaway died a widow on 28 APR 1931 of chronic myocarditis and endocarditis in San Antonio, Bexar County, TX. Both Nancy and Rich were buried at Eastview Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. No headstones exist.

To this union were born: Rosie Page, Radie Parson, Semon Hardiway, Nancy A. Hardaway, Clarence Hardaway, Roberta Gresham, Henry Hardaway, and Robert Hardaway. Green Hardaway married secondly with Josephine Ward Hardaway (nee Greenwood) [c. 1881—1926] on 22 JAN 1903 in Fayette County, TX. To this union were born: Louis Hardaway, Myrtle Sims, Willie D. Hardaway, Rudolph Hardaway, Rodger Hardaway, Mary Ricks, Sallie J. Johnson, Izola DeWitt, Marion King Hardaway, Earkle Harris, Quinton B. Hardaway Sr., Clyde Hardaway, and Eola Tyus.
In addition to his two marriages, Green Hardaway maintained a relationship with Caroline “Callie” Ferrell [c. 1868—????]. To Callie and Green Hardaway’s partnership were born: Carmellia Morgan and Beatrice Jones. Eliza was buried on the Green Hardaway farm whereas Josephine and Green were buried next to one another at the Andrew Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Waelder, TX.

Born in Louisiana in about 1865, Anthony Hardaway was married with Mary (nee Elam) [1856—1925] on 21 DEC 1885 in Gonzales County, TX, the daughter of Mary and Andy Elam. To their union was born Clara Chestnut, and Viola Miller, whose death record reflects her parentage as Eden Hardaway and Mary Satterwhite.
Anthony’s whereabouts and death after the births of his daughters is not immediately known, whereas Mary went on to wed Dan Satterwhite in 1897. Mary Satterwhite (nee Elam) died 27 SEP 1925 in San Antonio, TX, of an unknown cause, and was buried at East View Cemetery.

Annais Hardaway
Born in Texas in about 1866, Annais Hardaway was partnered with John Oliver Hood. It is after the birth of Annais’s son Thomas A. J. Hood that she seemingly disappears from the written record, and her children are divided amongst the homes of her older brothers, Montgomery and W. H. (William Hillory) Hardaway (found documented in the 1900 census year). This may point indirectly to her early death. Together with John Oliver Hood, Annais Hardaway mothered: Lorado Hood, Delia White, Thomas Hood, John Anthony Hood, and potentially a John Oliver Hood Jr.
Louis Hardaway
Born in Texas, archival material does not provide that Louis Hardaway [1863—1943] married or had children. Louis is known to have lived for a time on the Green Hardaway farm, where he also suffered a heart attack and died inside the property’s outhouse. Louis Hardaway passed away on 15 MAR 1943 due to cardiovascular disease and was buried at Andrew Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Sidney Hardaway
Born in Texas, Sidney Hardaway [1888—1949] married to Lula “Lou” Jackson (nee Johnson) [1872—1908] on 23 DEC 1900 in Gonzales County, TX, the daughter of Caroline. To this union were born: Olle Hardaway, Katherine Kimble, and Dorothy Green. Sidney died on 02 OCT 1949 in Yoakum, Dewitt County, TX, due to heart disease and arteriosclerosis, and was buried at Pleasantville Cemetery in Yoakum, TX, while Lou passed away 19 AUG 1908 due to organic heart lesions and Bright's disease. Her burial location is not made clear by her death certificate.
